Phil Ivey Reached Another WPT Final Table, Ties For Most Final Tables

July 21, 2010 – by Glen Farmer

Phil Ivey may not have won the World Poker Tour Bellagio Cup VI, but his third place victory did win him a sizable cash prize and another accolade in his poker career.

In addition to winning his 8th World Series of Poker bracelet this year, Ivey also made it to his 8th final table in the World Poker Tour. This 8th visit to a final table has tied him with Scotty Nguyen for the most final tables. This puts him above the now third place ties that are Daniel “Kid Poker” Negreanu, David Pham, and Gus Hansen.

Ivey busted out of the Bellagio Cup VI when he moved all in from the small blind with Qs4c. Justin Smith, who went on to win second place, called from the big blind with Kd-8h, and ended up spiking an 8 on the flop. When the board lacked a queen, Smith won the hand and the remainder of Ivey’s chips.

To date, Phil Ivey has won $2,994,402 career earnings in the World Poker tour, which sets him in 15th place on the leader boards. Eight of his eleven cashes have been through final tables, and he has one WPT title to his name.

Those who wish to enter the World Poker Tour can do so with satellites through the best USA poker rooms. The competition through such poker rooms as PokerStars and Bodog may be steep, or at least varying, but a cheap ticket to these major live events could be available.
