Michael ‘The Grinder’ Mizrachi Could Overtake Phil Ivey In Lifetime Tournament Winnings

July 20th, 2010 – by Glen Farmer

As one of the November Nine, Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi stands to win a minimum of $811,823 for his run in the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event. If the 29 year old poker professional of Florida wins the first place prize, he will walk with $8,944,138.

Amongst his accolades as a poker player will be the person with the most lifetime tournament winnings in the world – if he wins the main event in the first or second place prize.

As he stands now, before the completion of his run in the 2010 WSOP Main Event, Mizrachi has $8,802,094 in tournament winnings. Of these winnings, $2,271,327 comes from the World Series of Poker, while $323,258 comes from the WSOP circuit. This would put him 14th on the current All Time Money list, just behind T.J. Cloutier. Some of his winnings come from USA online poker in addition to live land based tournaments.

Mizrachi is currently plays for Absolute Poker, one of the best USA poker rooms.

The top position on the All Time Money list of poker is Phil Ivey, according to Card Player and The Hendon Mob Poker Database. While the numbers conflict by a few hundred thousand, one thing remains the same – Michael Mizrachi stands to be the most successful tournament player if he manages to take the bracelet in the 2010 WSOP Main Event or even second place – a prize of $5,545,855.

Phil Ivey only overtook Daniel Negreanu as the most successful tournament winner of all time in January of 2010, when Ivey won second place in the Aussie Millions 100K event. Most of Ivey’s winnings come from the World Series of Poker, where he has won $5,213,809 and eight bracelets. Though he did not have a deep run in the Main Event this year, he did walk home from the 41st Annual World Series of Poker with his 8th bracelet.

The November Nine will reconvene in early November, and Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi will have his chance at making history in the poker world, as well as giving Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu a new height to reach for.
