Pennsylvania Casinos Complete Test Run of Table Games

July 7, 2010- By Bryan Cross

Pennsylvania Casinos are testing and seeing how the implementation of the new table games will play out.

Rivers Casino and The Meadows Casino were the first two to run the trials of blackjack, roulette and poker under the watchful and careful eye of the Pennsylvania Gaming and Control Board.  The Board is making sure that the new table games run smooth, and that the casinos understand how to operate under the new types.

“We know a lot of people are watching, so we’re careful,” remarked Rivers Casino General Manager Todd Moyer of the table games. “This is a big day for us.”

At the Rivers Casino, there were approximately 3,000 players invited to participate in the trial run of the table games.

After the trial run, the Board stated that the play could begin for the public by Thursday at 6 am.

“I’m glad they’re finally here,” said Richard Darnell “It’s much easier for all of us here.”

“People love their slots, but you can tell a lot of them have been anticipating table games for a long time,” remarked David LaTorre, who is a Meadows spokesman.

Rivers Casino officials estimate that the table games will bring in close to $7 million annually in taxes.

“We are very, very excited,” stated Neil Bluhm, who is the chairman of the Rivers Casino. “Pittsburgh now has a full service, first-class casino in every way.”

In total, all of the nine casinos in the state of Pennsylvania will be implementing table games in the month of July.
