Delaware Opens Casinos With New Table Games For Memorial Day

May 28th, 2010-  By Bryan Cross

The wait is over for the state of Delaware and their gaming industry as Friday marks the official opening of the new table games approved earlier this year.

Leading up to the end of this week and on into Memorial Day week, the hype and build up surrounding the new tables games was high in the state.

Small test runs of each type of game earlier were conducted with a maximum bet of $25 being the limit.

Delaware Lottery Director Wayne Lemons brought in an outside company, The Spectrum Gaming group to ensure that no hiccups or bumps in the road occurred on the way to the big Memorial Day weekend Grand Opening.

“It’s gone very well, so now we’re turning them loose,” Lemons said of the new implementation of the table games.

The state’s first table games were put in Harrington Raceway, which is the first of three total casinos to receive the table games first.

The three table games introduced to Delaware are blackjack, roulette and craps.

Casino analysts state that the state of Delaware receives roughly 2 percent of their total gamblers from the state of New Jersey.

Table games in Atlantic City are very successful, accounting for 30 percent of the total revenue of the casino, equating to $1.2 billion.

With the new table games, Delaware is hoping to see a spillover effect in revenue, including Delaware Online Casinos.
