Gambling Expansion In Pennsylvania Nearing Completion

May 26th, 2010 – by Glen Farmer

In the beginning of the year, gambling expansion had been a subject of heavy debate in Pennsylvania. Players were hoping for table games. Not even two weeks into the year, these table games were approved and set to be introduced by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

The process of gambling expansion would require that each casino operator file a petition with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, meet at a hearing to deliver their case, than await approval. Ten petitions were filed, and ten were approved, marking each gambling center in Pennsylvania for the incorporation of table games.

The most recent casinos to receive approval over their petitions was that of Rivers and SugerHouse. These gaming centers, located in the two largest cities within the state, are the last casinos to receive the green light on gambling expansion.

Rivers Casino is set to receive 42 blackjack tables, 6 craps tables, 3 roulette wheels, a trio of Three-Card Poker tables, 3 Texas Hold ’em bonus tables, 2 Pai Gow poker tables, as well as 2 mini baccarat tables and a solitary Big 6 wheel. Additionally, 24 poker tables are set to be added as gambling options in the state.

SugarHouse, though not yet built, is set to receive 18 blackjack tables, 4 roulette wheels, 3 tables for mini baccarat, 3 Pai Gow tables, 4 Three Card Poker tables and a pair of Four Card poker tables.

The total number of jobs to be created through the expansion of gambling in the state are 615 full time, permanent jobs, 149 part time jobs, and almost 100 construction jobs. This will once again invigorate the Pennsylvania state economy.

Though most of the petitions have only recently been approved, state gambling authorities expect table games at most of the gambling centers in the state of Pennsylvania to begin their operation shortly after the Fourth of July holiday.

Slot revenue is not expected to significantly drop when the table games are added.

Currently, Pennsylvania online gambling is satisfying the casino gambling and poker needs for players within the state, as these choices for gambling operate around the clock and provide players with limitless possibilities.
