Poker Players Prepare For The 2010 World Series Of Poker

May 17th, 2010 – Written By Bonnie

For more than 40 years, Sin City has been home to one of the biggest poker events in the world, the World Series of Poker, and we are just days away from the start of the 41st World Series of Poker. A buzz is already sweeping through the poker community as poker players around the world are getting prepared for the most anticipated poker events of the year.

The World Series of Poker events will begin May 27th and take place up until July 17th. During this time millions of dollars will be awarded in cash prizes, and 57 World Series of Poker Gold Bracelets will be awarded to the top poker players. Some say that this years series of World Series of Poker events will be the biggest anyone has ever seen in the history of WSOP.

World Series of Poker tournament director Jack Effel stated, “Whatever your game and whatever your bankroll, the 2010 WSOP schedule offers something for everyone. We are planning for the largest WSOP ever and look forward to welcoming all players to the Rio in Las Vegas this summer.”

Players will want to get a jump start on their registration, and encouraged to not wait till the last minute to secure their seat in the WSOP Main Event. Harrah’s will do their best to not have a repeat of the 2009 WSOP Main Event, where more than 500 players who waited to the last day to register were turned away due to the event already being over capacity. Last year’s WSOP managed to attract approximately 61,000 players, 6494 being players in the $10,000 WSOP Main Event.

All of the biggest names in poker anxiously await this annual poker event, although most professional players find many ways to occupy themselves year round. Professional poker player and 7 time WSOP gold bracelet winner Phil Ivey is expected to make quite a few leader boards throughout the 2010 World Series of Poker events, and is actually listed with win odds of 80/1. Many of the other top poker players have managed to make it on the betting odds listed for this years round of wsop, but Ivey is by far the most talked about player and sure to be a name we will continue to hear about for many years to come.
