Hearing To be Held Over Revocation Of Bond In Alabama Gambling Probe

February 7th, 2011 – by Glen Farmer

Ronnie Gilley, the developer of the Country Crossing Casino, may soon have his bond revoked. A federal judge is set to hold a a hearing to decide Gilley’s fate. The federal judge may decide to put Gilley back in holding prior to the trial.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Terry Moorer has set the hearing for this morning. The hearing was delayed a week, as Gilley had requested the ability to receive medical treatment in Birmingham for an undisclosed issue.

The prosecution has been attempting to have Gilley’s bond revoked due to allegations that he attempted to prevent his former lobbyist from pleading guilty, which would ultimately incriminate Gilley himself.

The Attorney representing the Country Crossing mogul stated that nothing happened.

Gilley was originally indicted in the gambling probe that federal investigators had launched due to suspicions that some foul play had been taking place over the issue of bingo gambling in the state.

Several people have already pleaded guilty to the crimes they had been faced with in the probe. Gilley, however, seems intent on fighting it.
