Next Stop On World Poker Tour Begins Next Friday

On January 7th, the first stop on the World Poker Tour in 2011 will begin. The series of tournaments in the Southern Poker Championship will build up to the main event, which begins on January 23rd, 2011.

The Southern Poker Championship will be held in the Beau Rivage casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. The first tournament in the series will be a $500+$50 no limit hold ’em event, which marks one of many.

Pot limit Omaha, no limit hold ’em, seven card stud, and limit hold ’em will be the predominant events in the series. Buy-ins will range from $200 to $10,000, with various sizes intervening.

The main event will begin on January 23rd, and is expected to run through the 27th. A buy-in of $9,700+$300 will be required.

The WPT has been on break for over a month, with many professional poker players traveling the world and participating in cash games in the downtime.

This year’s tour will be ending in the ides of May, with a major $25,000+$500 tournament in the Bellagio at Las Vegas.
