Caesars Entertainment Announces Dates For 2011 World Series Of Poker

December 27th, 2010 – by Glen Farmer

Caesars Entertainment has announced the dates for the 2011 World Series of Poker, the 42nd annual series of major poker tournaments to come to Las Vegas. Open to anyone 21 years of age or older, the World Series of Poker will offer players from around the globe a chance to participate in the events.

The beginning day of the series will be held on Tuesday, May 31st, 2011. Kicking off the day after Memorial Day, the events will run for 50 days straight. On July 19th, 2011, a temporary hiatus will be held after the final table of the Main Event is solidified.

The tournaments will return to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, the location for the tournaments since 2005.

Though the series will begin on May 31st, the Main Event will not begin until July 7th, 2011. Four starting days will be included once again in order to accommodate the large field that the Main Event typically attracts.

One change that will be taking place in the 42nd annual World Series of Poker is that of the hard cap on the time limits in the event. A maximum of ten levels per day will take place, and once these ten levels have been completed, remaining players will have their chips bagged and tagged until the next day – no matter how many players remain.

The entire schedule has not yet been released, but the full list of events is to be released in January. Individual tournaments, dates, times, and buy-ins will all be released in the first month of the new year.
