Ex-Casino Worker Convicted Over Card Cheating Charges

A former dealer from a casino in East Chicago, Indiana has recently been convicted in federal court for his participation in a casino scam that ended up stealing $1.5 million dollars from a casino in Indiana.

Mike Waseleski, 46, was the most recent person to be convicted in the conspiracy surrounding the Tran Organization. The investigation surrounding the organization has led to three separate federal indictments. Over 41 members of the illegal scam-gambling ring of plead guilty to their crimes in over 20 casinos in the United States and Canada.

The conspiracy surrounded paying off casino dealers, such as Waseleski, for their cooperation. These dealers would create false shuffles, creating a slug, a group of cards that are unshuffled. Other ring members at the table would track the order of the cards, and, upon noticing the slug, they would begin to bet in correlation to the upcoming cards.

Waseleski dealt at Resorts East Chicago casino. He had been convicted by a federal jury in San Diego on Wednesday. Due to his involvement in the scam, Waseleski faces a up to five years in prison, as well as a fine of $250,000. March 28th is the date of the sentencing.
