November 27th, 2010 – by Glen Farmer

On November 26th, 2010, the Jacks Or Better casino gambling ship set sail from Mayport Jacksonville. This marks the first source of gambling since Sun Cruz went bankrupt last year.

The Jacks or Better Casino is a day cruise can hold up to 500 people for the daily voyage. Harboring multiple casino games and slots, table games, craps, and even a sportsbook. Dining options on board include sandwiches, breakfast, appetizer type foods, assorted beer, and even fresh sushi.

The ship is expected to be home to special events, and is even available to be chartered by parties.

Company policy requires that all of those who board the ship must be 21 years of age or older. Ticket prices range from $13 to $18, depending on the day. Non alcoholic beverages are included in the price of the ticket.

Florida’s gambling industry is currently limited to the southern half of the state, with tribe operated casinos in both Tampa and Hollywood. Smaller venues are also available in between these two locations.

The Jacks or Better Casino sails only Wednesday through Sunday, with Monday and Tuesday reserved for chartered cruises.
