Quebec Next north American Government To Regulate online Gambling

November 20th, 2010 – by Glen Farmer

On Friday, Loto Quebec has announced that they will be launching an online gambling site. This site will begin operating on December 1st, 2010.

Designed both in English and French, the site will offer a multitude of games to legal aged residents in Quebec. Poker games, blackjack, and roulette will be offered through the site, which is parked at espacejeux.com.

In order to compete with other online gambling sites, Loto Quebec has stated that they will be incorporating more and better safety measures. Only those above 18 years of age or older may platy the games, and there is a $10,000 per week limit on how much can be lost.

It is estimated that, despite competition from established online gambling sites, Loto-Quebec will generate more than $50 million per year.

Loto-Quebec’s site has come several months after the British Colombian Lottery Corporation had decided to open their own online gambling site. In British Columbia, PlayNow.com has proven to be a rampant success. In order to truly prove the success of this site, the BCLC has even decided to expand the gambling options to include online poker.

Despite the revenue possibilities, the United States federal government has not yet made licensing available for online gambling sites, though some states are making progress.
