Oakland Raiders (-2.5) Favored To Beat Seattle Seahawks; H2H Betting Trends Agree

October 28th, 2010 – by Alex

This weekend the Oakland Raiders (3-4) are coming off a shocking blowout victory over the Denver Broncos as they host the visiting Seattle Seahawks (4-2) in Week 8 of the NFL Schedule. With game being in Oakland, kickoff will take place at approximately 4:15pm EST and coverage can be seen on Fox as well as DirecTV channel 713.

Raiders quarterback, Jason Campbell completed 12-of-20 passes on the day, accumulating 204 yards and two touchdowns against a woeful Broncos defense. The most staggering stat coming from the QB, however, was his zero turnovers. Running back, Darren McFadden absolutely destroyed the Denver run defense with 165 yards and three touchdowns on the day, while Michael Bush chipped in 59 yards and a touchdown.

So far, on the year, McFadden has put up four touchdowns and 557 yards while Bush has added 256 yards and three touchdowns. On the receiving side, McFadden has been key for the Raiders as well putting together 193 yards and two touchdowns on the year. Zack Miller leads the way for the team with 33 catches for 453 and four touchdowns, and Louis Murphy has chipped in 21 catches for 337 yards.

Defensively, Michael Huff has been a beast putting up 45 tackles on the year with Tyvon Branch trailing close behind him with 43 tackles. Matt Shaughnessy leads the group with four sacks while Kamerion Wimbley has pitched in three. In order for the Raiders to beat the Seahawks they will have to abuse Matt Hasselbeck and build on the three interceptions they have as a team for the season. Further, they’ll have to make sure to not give up their season average of 23.6 points to a Seahawks team that’s shown an ability to get hot in spurts.

On the other side of the field, the Seahawks are coasting atop the NFC West in a year where many thought they’d experience some growing pains behind new coach Pete Carroll. Thus far, Seattle has won three of their last four games and is getting surprisingly solid production from quarterback, Hasselbeck. Despite being somewhat inconstant, he’s putting up not-terrible totals of 1248 yards with six touchdowns and six interceptions, on 59.8 percent passing. Still, his offensive line is letting him get pummeled to the tune of 14 sacks. The Seahawks running attack has come alive behind new running back, Marshawn Lynch. Receiver Mile Williams is also doing his part with 32 catches for 348 yards to lead the Seattle receiving group.

Defensively, the Seahawks have rallied behind Lawyer Milloy who leads the team in tackles with Earl Thomas trailing close behind with 30 for the year. Chris Clemons has accumulated five and a half sacks on the season and Milloy and Raheem Brock trail right behind with him three apiece. Earl Thomas leads the league in interceptions with six for the season.

NFL Game Lines: Largely in part because they’re playing at home, the Raiders are a 2.5 favorite over the visiting Seahawks. Furthermore, Bodog Sportsbook has this game listed with an over/under of 42 total points. Both teams enter this game with identical against the spread records as compared to their overall records. Seattle is 4-2 against the spread while Oakland is 3-4 against the spread this season.

NFL ATS Betting Trends: The Raiders are 4-1 ATS in their last five games and 5-2 ATS against teams with a winning record. Meanwhile, the Seahawks are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record.

Head to Head NFL Betting Trends: In the last 7 games played in this series, the home team is a resounding 7-0 ATS. That combined with the Seahawks being 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games played in Oakland, the NFL Betting Trends are definitely leaning one way.
