Casino Boats To Receive Final Votes In North Charleston

October 28th, 2010 – by Glen Farmer

Months of debate over casino boats in Charleston are set to culminate, as tonight will be the final vote that could change the zoning laws that currently inhibit gambling boats from sailing from the city.

South Carolina is not a state that is very friendly toward gambling, and these gambling boats will represent one of the very few options that gamblers have in the state. If tonight’s vote passes, the boats are expected to begin sailing out of the city by the end of winter.

Estimates for the tax revenue generated have been generous, estimating roughly $1.5 million dollars a year in revenue.

Gambling cruises have not always proven to be successful or cost effective, as was the case in Florida. SunCruz and the Palm Beach Princess had both gone belly up, as they could not financially sustain operation.

These boats are expected to provide players with a full range of gambling options, including table games and slot machines alike. The only other option for gambling in the state would include South Carolina Online Casinos. Online casinos provide players with a full blown casino experience.

Other forms of South Carolina online gambling are also available, including poker and sports betting.
