Tennessee Titans Defeat Philadelphia Eagles 37-19

October 24th, 2010- By AlexGroberman

In one of the more impressive performances of the weekend, the Tennessee Titans destroyed the Philadelphia Eagles 37-19 on Sunday.

Titans quarterback, Kerry Collins threw three touchdown passes to wide receiver, Kenny Britt en route to a 17-for-31, three touchdown and two interception performance on the day. Britt, coming off a week where got into a highly-publicized bar fight two days ago, had the game of his life with touchdown receptions of 26, 80 and 16 yards on his way to a 225 yard day. And this all happened despite Britt coming off the bench as a punishment from his altercation earlier in the week.

Originally, Titans coach Jeff Fisher opted to start rookie Damian Williams in Britt’s place. Then, after finally being allowed into the game in the second quarter, his first catch was a 26-yarder for a touchdown that put the team up 7-3.

Despite leading 19-10 at one point, sacking Collins three times and forcing him into throwing three interceptions, the Eagles somehow squandered a nine point lead to eventually allow the Titans to score 27 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.

The Eagles were unable to convert any of Collins’ interceptions into points.

With the victory, the Titans won an NFL-best 12th straight game over NFC opponents despite their quarterback, Vince young being sidelined by a sprained left knee and ankle.

The Titans were able to rally and come up with the big win when after already intercepting Eagles quarterback, Kevin Kolb, three times on the day, they stripped him of the ball at the Titans 3-yard line in the third quarter. They drove for a field goal at that point to pull the score to 16-10, and from that point on, they never looked back.

Philadelphia scored their final points on the game with a David Akers 28-yard kick that gave the Eagles a 19-10 lead in the fourth quarter.

Aside from Britt, the Tennessee defense was the story of the day for the winning Titans. During the fourth quarter, they forced Philadelphia to three straight three-and-out plays. The first one set up the Titans go-ahead drive that put them up for good.

The game eventually ended on a Kevin Kolb 41-yard pick via Cortland Finnegan that was brought back as time expired.

The Titans were set as a three-point favorite on USA Online Sportsbooks and NFL Betting Odds, with the game going the over at 56 total points.
