DeAngelo Hall Picks Off Jay Cutler 4 Times in Redskins Win Over Bears

October 24th, 2010-  By AlexGroberman

It only took a masterful performance by cornerback, DeAngelo Hall for the Washington Redskins to defeat the Chicago Bears 17-14 on Sunday.

Always recognized as a solid defensive player, Hall took it to a different level against Jay Cutler and the Bears en route to an NFL record, four interception performance. One of the interceptions was taken back 92 yards for a touchdown by the veteran during the game of his life. It was that pick late in the third quarter that ultimately put the Redskins ahead for good and gave the Chicago their third loss in four games.

Hall now holds a record held by 18 other players and is officially the first player to pick off four passes in a game since Deltha O’Neal did it in 2001 as a member of the Denver Broncos.

While the Bears are now on the decline, struggling to win games, Washington has officially equaled their win total from last year. They seemed to take particular joy in this victory on the defensive end, taking their lead from Hall, and pounding the Bears quarterback into the ground.

As it stands now, Cutler has been sacked 19 times in his last three games.

When Hall made his spectacular one-handed touchdown interception, Cutler was in the middle of leading his Bearsdrive from the 13-yard line. At the time, the Redskins were trailing 14-10 and Cutler made the error of throwing off his back foot attempting to get receiver, Johnny Knox on the right sideline. With the touchdown run, Hall gave his squad a 17-14 lead with a little over a minute and a half left in the third quarter.

Following a Ryan Torain fumble, Hall also picked Cutler off once in the fourth quarter.

Then, in the closing minutes of the game, Hall came up with his last interception of the game when he picked off a pass intended for Knox on the Washington 13 yard line.

Cutler finished the day with a 26-for-40, 281 yard performance. For the game, the Bears finished with 322 yards against a Washington defense that came into the day allowing a league-high 322 yards per game. At one point, the Bears had seven running players for -5 yards in the first quarter.

Bears Pro Bowl linebacker, Lance Briggs left the game with an aggravated ankle injury early in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Redskins quarterback, Donovan McNabb threw for 200 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the victory while running back, Torain chipped in 125 yards on 21 carries.

The Bears were favored three point favorite on USA Online Sportsbooks and NFL Weekly Betting Odds for the game and were unable to cover.
