Oregon Takes Over No. 1 Spot In This Weeks New AP Top 25

October 24, 2010 – By Scott

With the new BCS poll coming out this Sunday, there will be a new No. 1 ranked team in the 2010 College Football Season. Alabama and Ohio State were the first two teams to make an early exit from the top spot in the AP poll and now Oklahoma lost a chance to possibly take over the No. 1 position against a ranked opponent.

The Sooners were upset on the road on Saturday as previous No. 11 Missouri had a huge fourth quarter and got past Oklahoma 36-27.

Previous No. 5 Auburn also had a huge win over No. 6 LSU that helped shake up the polls a little this week also.

But now that the new AP poll is out, Oregon will still remain in the No. 1 spot in the new AP Top 25. The Ducks had a huge win over UCLA on Thursday night that left them undefeated and allowed them to keep their spot. Boise State did not play this weekend but that did not hinder them any with voters as they moved up to No.2. As for Auburn, their big win now gives them their highest ranking since they were No. 2 in 2006 as they moved up to No.3. TCU breezed by Air Force on Saturday 38-7 and will get the No.4 ranking. Michigan State got a scare in their matchup with Northwestern but pulled out the win and will move up to No. 5.

Alabama remained at just one loss on the year after their win over Tennessee and will take over the 6th spot. Making the largest leap in the polls this week is Missouri. Their upset win over the Sooners jumped them 11 spots to No. 7. Utah, Wisconsin and Ohio State round out the top ten.

Both Oklahoma and LSU dropped out of the top ten this week after their losses and fall to No. 11 and No. 12 respectively. Making their first appearance in the poll since 1993 is Baylor which came in at No. 25. Following is the complete list of the new AP Top 25 Poll…
