Pittsburgh Steelers Set As 3-Point Favorite On Road Over Miami Dolphins
October 22nd, 2010-  By Bryan Cross

In quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s first appearance on the field in 2010, the Pittsburgh Steelers shined. Roethlisberger will play in his second game this week, when the Pittsburgh Steelers face the Miami Dolphins in week seven of the NFL season.  Both teams are coming off wins a week prior, and will look to continue the momentum as the midway point of the season approaches.

The one constant after the Steelers last game, is that everyone inside the Pittsburgh lock room knows that when Roethlisberger is one the field, he is their leader.

“One thing about him — when you look into his eyes, you always know you have a chance to win ballgames,” remarked receiver Hines Ward. “And everybody just follows.”

It was a warm reception for the two-time Super Bowl winner, but Sunday could be an a different atmosphere entirely when Pittsburgh hits the road to Miami in what will likely be a hostile environment.

Looking ahead at this one for the Steelers on offense, look for them to open it up for Roethlisberger to make the plays he has made for them his whole career.  The production of running back Rasard Mendenhall definitely helps, as Pittsburgh may be one of the most balanced offensive teams in the league.

For the Dolphins on defense, getting pressure on Roethlisberger by winning the line of scrimmage will be an important factor.  Roethlisberger is prone to moving around in the pocket which can make it difficult on offensive lineman to continue to protect.  Also, limiting Mendenhall’s production will be a key to the game, as making the Steelers one dimensional slows down the attack.

Offensively for the Dolphins, it was a clutch performance by quarterback Chad Henne and company last week in the 23-20 overtime win.  While Henne was better throwing the ball, the running game with Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams still has not had a breakout performance.  It doesn’t get any easier this week though, with the Steelers arguably the best defense in the country.

For the Steelers on defense, the know Henne is prone to making mistakes.  Pittsburgh is stout against the run, where stopping Brown and Williams will be an important key to the game.
