Chicago Bears Giving Three Points To Washington Redskins In Week 7 Match Up
October 20th, 2010-  By Bryan Cross

The Washington Redskins and the Chicago Bears meet in week seven of the NFL season, each coming off a field-goal loss from a week prior.  For the Redskins, it was a home loss at the hands of the Indianapolis Colts.  For the Bears, it was a loss to the Seattle Seahawks.  Bnoth the Redskins and Bears are in good shape in their respective divisions to date, but a second loss in a row will begin to spell trouble for one of these teams.

Bears’ quarterback Jay Cutler threw for 290 yards against the Seahawks, but did not throw any touchdown passes.  He didn’t throw any interceptions either, which was a positive.  Still, the Bears were simply unable to make the plays in the fourth quarter to get ahead of Seattle.

The Redskins dropped to Indianapolis 27-24 on Sunday night, where quarterback Donovan McNabb threw for 246 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in the losing effort.  One of bright sides for Washington however was the play of back up running back Ryan Torain, who tabbed two touchdowns and 100 yards rushing in place of the injured Clinton Portis.

Looking ahead at this one for the Redskins on offense, look for them to continue to try and get Torain carries if he can continue this type of production.  They gave him the ball 20 times, as he averaged five yards per carry.  If he can continue to produce, McNabb has shown that he is throwing the ball well, but it can only open up the field the more Torain produces.

For the Bears on defense, they will need to try and limit Torain to shut down one phase of the Redskins offense. Limiting the run will be a victory for a Bears defense that is aggressive in nature behind linebacker Brian Urlacher.  The Bears rank third in the NFL against the run, which means that Torain could have some difficulty getting some yards.

On offense for the Bears, running back Matt Forte will be a key to getting the Bears offense going against a solid Washington defense.  The Bears only rank 26th in rush yards, but Forte has been very good catch the ball out of the offensive backfield.

Against the Chicago offense, the Washington defense will try and get after Cutler, as the Chicago offensive line has definitely shown that they have been susceptible to giving up sacks, as was evident when they surrendered nine in the first half against the New York Giants.
