Only 99 Survive Day 2 of World Poker Tour Festa Al Lago

October 17th, 2010 – by Glen Farmer

Of the 214 that had gone into Day 2 of the Festa Al Lago Main Event, only 99 have managed to survive. Chip counts fluctuated heavily throughout the day, but some likely names had managed to take the lead.

At the end of day 2, Matt Affleck managed to pull into the lead. Though Affleck’s success in the major poker tournaments has been limited, Affleck is aiming to, according to his Twitter, “shock the world.”

Affleck ended the day with 585,300 chips.

Annette Obrestad ended the day in second place, roughly 50,000 chips behind Affleck. Abrestad held 536,800 chips at the end of the day.

Some other major players also managed to survive. Barry Greenstein, Vladimir Shchemelev, Daniel Negreanu, and Hoyt Corkins.

Jennifer Tilly, Howard Lederer, and Erik Seidel were amongst the major eliminations of the day.

The third day is likely to bring the field to a minimum. The remaining players are going to work toward the bubble, and every chip now counts.

The Bellagio’s Festa al Lago is currently on level 10, with blinds of 800 and 1600, with an ante of 200. Of the 335 that entered, only 50 players who entered will earn money.

The next stop for the World Poker Tour is in the Borgata, Atlantic City, and satellites are currently running to let players join for cheap. The best USA poker rooms have access to these satellites.
