No.1 Ohio State Buckeyes A Road Favorite Over No.16 Wisconsin Badgers
October 16th, 2010-  By Bryan Cross

A Big 10 clash between ranked opponents in the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Wisconsin Badgers takes place on Saturday afternoon, with the winner getting an inside track to a conference championship run.

The Buckeyes are the newly elected No.1 team in the country this week after Alabama dropped to South Carolina.

“It’s good to be No. 1, but if we don’t play like it every week, then all the hype will be for naught,”remarked  linebacker Brian Rolle.

However, several are of the opinion that Ohio State does not belong in the top spot, and early indications of the BCS Standings indicate the Buckeyes would rank No.5 in the standings.  Ohio State isn’t worrying about that however, and remains focused on Wisconsin and the rest of the season, knowing they have a tough environment to play in on Saturday.

“I remember we went to Wisconsin my sophomore year,” Rolle said of the 2008 match up. “It was ridiculous. I believe that student section is the best in the country.”

This game matches up one of the best road teams in the country against one of the better home teams in the country.  Wisconsin is 40-4 at home since 2004 and have recorded a victory in 25 of 28 night games.

“Playing there is so tough. You have to battle through a lot,” said Buckeye Ross Homan.

Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor grabbed offensive player of the week honors in the conference last week, after throwing for 334 yards and three touchdowns against Indiana.  He shared the honors with Badger running back John Clay.

“Without a doubt,” Pryor said when asked if Wisconsin is one of the toughest places to play in the Big 10. “It’s always circled on the calendar — especially when it’s at Camp Randall. Every Big Ten game is a challenge. The last time I was there, it was a great experience for me.”

This marks a defining game for both teams, after Wisconsin dropped one to Michigan State a couple of weeks ago for their first loss of the season.  Another loss would mean that the Badgers would likely be out of a conference championship hunt.

“It’s going to be a huge step up (in competition), just because year in and year out, those guys are the best of the best,” Tolzien said. “They’re super talented and really well coached and physical and all those things that great teams are. We’re going to have our hands full, and we truly need to really lock in.”
