Cincinnati Bearcats (-3) A Road Favorite Over Louisville Cardinals
October 15th, 2010-  By Bryan Cross

A Big East Conference clash between the Cincinnati Bearcats and the Lousiville Cardinals takes place on Friday night, with each team opening up conference play and looking to get the first win.

For Cincinnati (2-3) they come into this one off a 45-3 win over Miami (OH) last Saturday afternoon in which every point they put on the board was before halftime.  It was an explosive two quarters for the Bearcat offense, as quarterback Zach Collaros threw for 216 yards and three touchdowns, as he completed 14 of 17 passes.

It was a well-rounded effort on offense, as running back Isaiah Pead ran for nearly 200 yards on just 11 carries, with one being an 80-yard touchdown.  Pead has rushed for 366 yards over the course of his last two games, and comes into the game against the Cardinals riding high.

For Louisville (3-2),  they come into this one as winners of their last two games over Arkansas State and Memphis.  The Cardinals have struggled against better competition however, losing their opener to Kentucky and dropped another one in week three to then No.25 Oregon State.

It’s virtually the start of a new season though for both of these teams, with the beginning of conference play.  What has happened through the first weeks of the season does not effect the conference standings, and if either of the two teams can continue to click, they can begin to pile up the conference victories.

Lousiville quarterback Adam Froman has thrown for 1,177 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while running back Bilal Powell has rushed for 689 yards and seven touchdowns.  Powell averages 7.6 yards per carry, and the Bearcat defense will have to pay close attention to him.

Looking ahead at this one for the Cardinals on defense, slowing down Collaros will be a ket factor.  Collaros is a duel-threat quarterback and the Cardinals defense will have to keep everything in front of them.

The Bearcats defense has a tough task ahead of them too, as the Cardinals have a quarterback that can beat a defense with his arm, and a running back that can break through into the second tier of the defense.
