PokerStars Continues Legal Growth, Licensing Around Globe

October 10th, 2010 – by Glen Farmer

PokerStars, the world’s largest online poker room, is only continuing to grow. Their growth is due to receiving licenses around the world, and the latest stop for expansion came to Estonia.

Estonia gave PokerStars an operational license to offer poker games legally in their nation. This makes them one of the first legal online poker sites within the borders of Estonia. They have made the newest rendition of their poker room to fully comply with Estonian gambling laws.

Having launched Pokerstars.ee, Estonian players can now visit a branch of this enormous online poker established legally in the Baltic nation.

PokerStars has also managed to secure legal licenses in Italy and France, giving them the right to legally operate in these nations. Originally licensed in the Isle of Man, they still operate around the world.

While not licensed in the United States, it is not illegal for players to get into the games at PokerStars, one of the best USA poker rooms. The poker room is attempting to receive a license in the United States, but current laws do not allow gambling companies to receive licensing on a federal level.

The Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection, and Enforcement Act is currently moving through Congress, so the United States could soon give a license to PokerStars – should the bill pass.
