Dallas Cowboys Installed As A Touchdown Favorite Over Tennessee Titans
October 8th, 2010-  By Bryan Cross

A clash between conferences takes place in Week five of the 2010 NFL Season when the Tennessee Titans visit the Dallas Cowboys.  The Cowboys are coming off of a Bye week following a much-needed victory over Houston two weeks ago.  For the Titans, it was a tough loss to Denver this past Sunday which leaves them at 2-2 on the year.

For the Titans against Denver this past Sunday, quarterback Vince Young completed 17 of 28 passes for 173 yards and a touchdown, while running back Chris Johnson tabbed 53 yards on 19 carries.  While Young committed no turnovers, the performance was not enough to overcome an inept fourth quarter performance, in which they could not manage a score.  That, proved to be the difference maker, as Denver knocked through three-straight field goals to go ahead for good.

On the other side of the ball, the Cowboys faced a virtual must-win early in the season two weeks ago against Houston.  They answered the call, and quarterback Tony Romo and company may have saved their season, and head coach Wade Phillips job in the process.  One game does not a season make however, and the Cowboys will look to build off the win over the Texans this week against Tennessee.

For this one on offense for the Titans, it’s about getting Johnson going, as he is the cornerstone to the offense.  The more he produces, the easier it gets on Young.  Young has shown that he can produce, but has also been prone to turning it over when he is pressured, as was evident when they played Pittsburgh earlier this season.

For Dallas, stacking eight in the box to stop Johnson seems like a likely scenario, as he is the one weapon that the Cowboys can’t afford to let get past them.  Forcing Young to beat them with his arm would benefit the Dallas defense, as the Titan quarterback has yet to show throughout the first four week of the season that he can do so.

For the Cowboys on offense, quarterback Tony Romo has plenty of weapons around him to make it  very difficult on the Titans defense, despite the early success that Tennessee is having on that side of the ball.  Receivers Miles Austin, Roy William and Dez Bryant are one of the best wide receiving corps in the NFL and getting them the ball spreading it around will be important to mix up the Titan defense.

On the other side, Tennessee is statistically one of the best defenses in the NFL this season, limiting opponents on both yards and points.  In this one, they will need to get pressure on Romo and make him throw earlier than he wants.  This will alleviate some of the pressure that the secondary will have to deal with in the receivers.
