Donovan McNabb Wins In Return To Philadelphia As Redskins Top Eagles

October 3rd, 2010-  By Alex Groberman

Behind a somewhat underwhelming effort from quarterback, Donovan McNabb, the Washington Redskins defeated the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon.

Redskins quarterback, McNabb, threw for 125 yards and one touchdown on the day in a game where Washington seemed far more focused on the ground attack than they were on the aerial assault. Washington had 169 yards rushing, including 55 by Clinton Portis before his injury. On top of that, Ryan Torain chipped in with 70 yards and one touchdown. McNabb ended up throwing only 19 passes on the day, eight of which he completed. He also had one interception.

His shining moment on the day came when McNabb scrambled on a third-and-4 to keep the drive alive with four minutes remaining in the game. While this didn’t prove to put any points on the scoreboard, it ticked some much needed time off the clock for the Eagles. He also had a very impressive 57-yard competition to Anthony Armstrong on a third-and-15 in the second quarter that eventually set up a Graham Gano field goal.

While the game was billed as a match-up between McNabb and the Eagles’ Michael Vick, it quickly turned into something very different when Vick got hurt on a 23-yard run to the Washington one yard line that was negated by a holding penalty.

Quarterback, Kevin Kolb resumed the playing role he expected to have starting at the beginning of the season and put up 201 yards, one touchdown and one interception on a 22-35 performance. At one point, in the final minute of the first half, despite being on the inside of the Redskins one yard line the best the offense could muster up was a field goal. The move represented how the offensive flow of the game would go for the Eagles all day.

With the win the Redskins snapped a two game losing streak. They are no 2-0 in the NFC East. At the same time, the Eagles who are not at .500 for the year are winless at home.

Entering the game, the Eagles were set as a five-point favorite on USA Online Sportsbooks and NFL Weekly Betting Odds.
