New York Jets Runaway With Win Over Buffalo Bills 38-14

October 3rd, 2010-  By Alex Groberman

The New York Jets had no problem making short work of the Buffalo Bills on Sunday en route to a 38-14 blowout victory.

Jets running back, LaDainian Tomlinson had his best game in almost two years going for 133 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. The showing gave Tomlinson the 47th 100-yard game of his career and brought his grand total of rushing yards to 12,831 – moving him past Tony Dorsett to seventh play on the all-time NFL list.

Quarterback, Mark Sanchez went 14 of 24 for 161 yards and two touchdowns as he led his team to three scores in the third quarter. Sanchez’s most impressive throw, however, came on a 41-yard touchdown pass to receiver Braylon Edwards during the aforementioned third quarter. Tight end, Dustin Keller did his part as well with two touchdowns separated by a mere 1:33.

On the Bills side, this was the third straight game where they allowed 30 points which in turn brought their season total to 0-4. This makes for the third time in the last ten years that the team has gotten off to that mark.

Much of the Bills’ woes can be attributed to a poor showing by quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick in his second straight start. Fitzpatrick passed for 128 yards on the day with two touchdowns and a 12-for- 27 efficiency. One of the touchdowns was a four yard pass to David Martin at the end of the second quarter, while the second one came in garbage time in the fourth when the game was out of reach.

The Bills defense was almost as inept as the offense as they struggled to play despite the losses of three key starters. Marcus Stroud, Andra Davis and cornerback Terrence McGree were out due to ankle, shoulder and knee injuries, respectively.

USA Online Sportsbooks and NFL Weekly Betting Odds set the Jets as a five-point favorite in this one, easily covering the spread.  The over/under prior to kickoff was set at 36.5 points, and went the over.  The Jets have now swept their AFC East rivals, with division standing still able to shift on Monday Night Football When Miami and New England match up.
