NFL Week 4 Power Rankings: Steelers, Colts, Falcons, Saints, Ravens Round Out Top 5

September 29th, 2010 – by Bryan Cross

Only three teams remain undefeated in the NFL after three weeks of play, and they most certainly were not on the radar of many analysts to be the last unbeaten teams in the NFL. As it stands, only the Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers have perfect records, with everyone else already having endured the season’s first lost.

Looking at the NFL power rankings this week, they switch up a bit as three games is long enough to get a good feel of a team identity.

1. Pittsburgh Steelers- The Steelers crushed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week despite the fact that Charlie Batch leads the offense, they managed to put up 38 points. Pittsburgh opens up division play this week with Baltimore as a one-point favorite according to Week 4 NFL Betting Odds.

2. Indianapolis Colts- The Colts have looked sharp these past two weeks after an opening loss to the Houston Texans. Peyton Manning is clicking with more receivers than you can shake a stick at, and that’s dangerous. The Colts face AFC South foe Jacksonville this week, and are set as an eight-point favorite

3. Atlanta Falcons- The Falcons went on the road to New Orleans and came away with the win. While they have been virtually unbeatable at home, the road is where they struggle. The road victory over New Orleans could signify a turning point. Atlanta is a touchdown favorite over San Francisco at home this week.

4. New Orleans Saints- In spite of the over time loss to the Falcons, New Orleans is definitely one of the top five teams in the NFL. Look for Brees and the Saints to rebound and have a renewed focus off of their Super Bowl haze and the first loss of the season. The Saints face the Carolina Panthers, and are a two-touchdown favorite.

5. Baltimore Ravens- Baltimore will get their shot at the undefeated Steelers this week, and Ray Lewis and company will try and prove why many picked them to compete for the Super Bowl this year. Now, it’s just a matter of the offense playing consistent. The Ravens face the Steelers as a one-point underdog on Sunday.

6. New York Jets- If quarterback Mark Sanchez continues to perform as he is now, combined with that nasty defense, then look out. The Jets can sweep the first round of the AFC East schedule this week with a win over Buffalo. The Jets are set as a five-point favorite over the Bills in the NFL Week 4 Matchups.

7. Green Bay Packers- It doesn’t matter who you are, if a team commits 18 penalties in a game, it is going to be difficult to win. Aaron Rodgers and company better figure out a way to stop shooting themselves in the foot. The Packers are a two-touchdown favorite over the Detroit Lions this week.

8. Kansas City Chiefs- The team is undefeated, and 29 of the others aren’t. They deserve to be in the top-10 and it doesn’t matter where people “think” they may, or may not end up. Three weeks, three wins, enough said. Kansas City is off this week.

9. Chicago Bears- They beat Green Bay on Monday Night, and while many may feel that the Packers were a better team, they sure did not look very disciplined against Chicago, committing 18 penalties. Jay Cutler might not be perfect, but it has been a team collaboration so far. The Bears play the Giants this week, and are installed as a four-point favorite.

10. New England Patriots- Tom Brady has the offense clicking against after putting up only 14 points in week two against the Jets. However, they will have to find some sort of a consistent running game if they hope to survive in the difficult AFC East. New England plays Miami on Monday Night Football, and are a one-point favorite for the game.
