2010 NFL Week 17 Matchups | 2010 NFL Weekly Matchups

The 2009 NFL Week 17 Preview signifies the last week of the 2009 NFL regular season. Some division's will still be in doubt going into Week 17 action. As was the case a season ago, some games in Week 17 will determine who will be moving on to the playoffs. One game that will surely have playoff implications will be the Dallas Cowboys hosting the Philadelphia Eagles. These NFC East rivals will likely have at least one of them in the hunt for the NFC East Divisional title or perhaps a wild card birth. This game should have great intrigue and will definitely be a fun game to watch. Two divisional champions from a season ago will face off in Week 17 when the New York Giants travel to Minnesota to take on the Vikings. Both of these teams will be in the thick of their divisional races throughout the entire season. This meeting in the last week of the season will likely be of great importance to one or both of them. This game will be pit the NFL's top rushing team from 2008 (Giants) versus the league's top rushing defense from last year (Vikings). What a great battle this will provide to close out the regular season.

The Patriots are thrilled to have QB Tom Brady back for the 2009 season. They will be in great shape as he leads their offense to an explosive season this year. When they visit Houston to close out the season the Texans will possess a powerful offense of their own. Houston finished 2008 with the 3rd ranked offense in the NFL in yards per game. They finished the last two seasons at 8-8 and have never had a winning season or made the playoffs. There is a chance that one or both of these will be on the line when these teams meet in Week 17. Can Houston finally finish with a winning record? Will the Texans make the playoffs for the first time in franchise history? This game will definitely be an offensive shootout and will be an exciting game to watch in Week 17.

Sunday January 03, 1:00 pm - Indianapolis Colts @ Buffalo Bills - The Colts travel to Buffalo for a cold week 17 match up against the Bills.  The Bills have lost the last game of the season the last three years in a row.  Look for the trend to continue as the Colts are just to much for the Bills to handle at the moment.

Indianapolis Colts vs. Buffalo Bills Game Preview

Sunday January 03, 1:00 pm - Jacksonville Jaguars @ Cleveland Browns - The Jaguars and the Browns combined to win only 9 games in 2008.  The Browns have no defense and pass the ball to much, the Jaguars have no defense and run the ball to much.  I'll take the home team in this match up, The Browns over the Jaguars.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Cleveland Browns Game Preview

Sunday January 03, 1:00 pm - Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys - The Cowboys and the Eagles played each other last year in week 17 in Philadelphia.  The Eagles won that game advancing to the Playoffs over the Eagles.  The winner of this game will most likely make it to the playoffs again this year.  Look for the Cowboys to return the favor beating the Eagles in Dallas the last game of the season.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys Game Preview

Sunday January 03, 1:00 pm - Chicago Bears @ Detroit Lions - The Detroit Lions will likely not make the playoffs this season.  The only way to build momentum into the years to come for such a young team is to end the 2009 season on a high note.  Look for the Lions to pull out all the stops in this game.  I have the Lions beating the bears at home in week 17.

Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions Game Preview

Sunday January 03, 1:00 pm - Atlanta Falcons @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers - The Falcons have improved tremendously in the off season.  The Buccaneers get home field advantage the last game of the season but home field won t be enough.  The Falcons run all over the Buccaneers to make it to the playoffs again in 2009.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Game Preview

Sunday January 03, 1:00 pm - New Orleans Saints @ Carolina Panthers - This game could end up being the most important game of the season for both of these teams.  The Panthers should be able to move the ball on offense against the Saints, but can they stop the saints from scoring?  If the panthers can play solid defense they should win the game.  If the game becomes a shoot out look for the Saints to pull of an upset.

New Orleans Saints vs. Carolina Panthers Game Preview

Sunday January 03, 1:00 pm - New England Patriots @ Houston Texans - The Texans will be a much improved team in 2009 but, beating the Patriots his a hard mountain to climb.  The Patriots should win the game.  However if the Patriots have clinched a playoff birth by week 17 and don't play their usual starters, the Texans can very easily take a win away from the New England Patriots.

New England Patriots vs. Houston Texans Game Preview

Sunday January 03, 1:00 pm - San Francisco 49ers @ St. Louis Rams - The Rams and the 49ers have gotten worse and worse over the years.  The 49ers play better defense than the Rams and, the only offense the Rams have is RB Steven Jackson.  If the 49ers can contain Steven Jackson they can win the game.

San Francisco 49ers vs. St. Louis Rams Game Preview

Sunday January 03, 1:00 pm - Pittsburgh Steelers @ Miami Dolphins - This Steelers Dolphins match up should be a good game.  Both teams play a similar game running often and playing quality defense.  Again though if the Steelers have clinched a playoff birth entering week 17, most of their starters wont see the field.  If that is the case the Dolphins will win this game.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Miami Dolphins Game Preview

Sunday January 03, 1:00 pm - New York Giants @ Minnesota Vikings - The Giants and the Vikings match up well against each other and, this game could be a preview of the NFC championship.  If the Vikings are hungry enough they can start wining contest against teams like New York giants.  The Vikings pull off the win in the last game of the season.

New York Giants vs. Minnesota Vikings Game Preview

Sunday January 03, 1:00 pm - Cincinnati Bengals @ New York Jets - Barring any injuries the Bengals should have a good season and, Carson Palmer should have a field day against the New York Jets secondary.  Look for Chad Ocho Cinco to have a good game in the last game of the season.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. New York Jets Game Preview

Sunday January 03, 4:15 pm - Green Bay Packers @ Arizona Cardinals - The Cardinals play well against under average teams its the above average teams they have problems with.  The Packers are an under average team so look for the Cardinals to take advantage.  Cardinals win at home.

Green Bay Packers vs. Arizona Cardinals Game Preview

Sunday January 03, 4:15 pm - Washington Redskins @ San Diego Chargers - The Chargers play well at home and many teams have problems with cross country games.  The Redskins might be a little to beat up and out of the post season hunt to win this game.  Chargers take command from the start and win the week 17 match up.

Washington Redskins vs. San Diego Chargers Game Preview

Sunday January 03, 4:15 pm - Tennessee Titans @ Seattle Seahawks - The Titans play well but the Seahawks are a good home team and back from injury.  The Seahwaks pull off, an unforeseen late season victory against the Titans.  The Titans have a chance of not making the playoffs in 2009.

Tennessee Titans vs. Seattle Seahawks Game Preview

Sunday January 03, 4:15 pm - Baltimore Ravens @ Oakland Raiders - The Raiders would love to win the last game of the season and try to build some hype for the 2010 season but, they get a game against the Ravens in week 17.  The Ravens defense should hold the Raiders to a low score.  The Ravens win in week 17.

Baltimore Ravens vs. Oakland Raiders Game Preview

Sunday January 03, 4:15 pm - Kansas City Chiefs @ Denver Broncos - The Chiefs should be a lot better in 2009 and have a chance to win some games with in the division this year.  The Broncos just traded away their best player and have a first year coach in Josh McDaniels.  Look for the Broncos to fall below the 8-8 mark this year and, the Chiefs to win 8 or 9 games in 2009.  one of those 8 games will be this one in week 17 against the Broncos in Denver.
