Going into the season last year most people believed the Chargers were a Super Bowl contender. A season filled with injuries, including pro bowl LB Shawn Merriman, left the Chargers as an 8-8 team barely making the playoffs. A healthy Merriman and a two headed rushing attack with Ladainian Tomlinson and Darren Sproles bode well for the 2009 Chargers schedule making a deep run in the playoffs. The defense was not the same without its leader in Merriman in the middle. His return brings high hopes to a team with possibly the most talent in the NFL. Oddsmakers project the Chargers to win 10.5 games this year. This shows there are high hopes for San Diego to make a return to the NFL elite.

The Chargers first preseason game is at home against the Seattle Seahawks on August 15th. A week later they will be on the road to face the NFC champion Arizona Cardinals on August 22nd. On August 29th the Chargers head to Atlanta to face a much improved Atlanta team with QB Matt Ryan going into his second year under center. Their final preseason game is back at home to face their in state rival San Francisco 49ers on September 4th. The 2009 San Diego Chargers schedule is full of interesting match ups, with some potentially guaranteed wins for the Bolts.

San Diego Chargers 2009 NFL Playoff Schedule

The Chargers finished the 2009 NFL regular season with the second best record in the AFC which earned them the second seed. The San Diego Chargers Schedule allowed them to go 13-3 through the regular season. The Chargers are now entering the 2009 NFL Playoffs as the hottest team on the block. San Diego doesn't play in the Wildcard round, but will get their first action on the Divisional round weekend of the playoffs.
