Table Games Legalized for Delaware Casinos

Casino News - January 30th, 2010 - Written By Glen

gamblingCasino expansion has been growing more rapidly than the Big Bang, and Delaware is a prime example of this. In the last six months, players watched as sports betting came back into the state. In the last month, table games had been proposed and passed into Delaware's legislation, may be operating within the next several months.

On Thursday, the Senate passed the bill that had already had success in the House. On the same day, Governor Jack Markell signed the bill into law.

Due to the passed legislation, Dover Downs, Harrington Raceway & Casino, and Delaware Park are now authorized to operate table games. The games that will be permitted will be decided by the Delaware Lottery Commission. Regulation will also be drawn up by the Commission.

According to early estimates, roughly 700 jobs will be created in the state, including the dealers, other casino workers, and even new state jobs. The state would also receive 29.4 percent of the revenue generated by the casinos.

Other states have been increasing their gambling choices, most notably Pennsylvania and Ohio. Both states have added casinos to their legislation, with Pennsylvania most recently signing in to law the ability to host table games. Though Pennsylvania had been first to authorize table games, it is suggested that Delaware may have their games installed before Pennsylvania.

The months before the inception of the games, however, will only have Delaware Online Casinos for legal table game gambling.
