TCU Looks To Remain Perfect Against Utah As 19 1/2 Point Favorites

Sports News - November 12th, 2009 - Written by Scott

ncaa footballThe "Game of the Week" in college football will take place in the Mountain West conference as No.16 Utah travels to play No. 4 TCU. There is alot at stake in this matchup, not only in regards to the conference title, but a possible shot at a BCS bowl bid for the Horned Frogs. Both teams are tied for first in the conference and the winner of this matchup will likely capture the title. TCU (9-0, 5-0) is on the verge of a perfect season and is coming off their 55-12 route over San Diego State. Utah (8-1, 5-0) has won 6 in a row after losing to Oregon. They defeated New Mexico 45-14 last Saturday. TCU will look to avenge their 13-10 loss from a year ago and possibly get at shot at the national title with a win.

Utah will turn to their freshman quarterback Jordan Wynn. He has played well in his last six quarters and has 374 yards and 3 touchdowns on the year. The problem for him is he now faces a much tougher opponent in TCU. The inexperience at the quarterback position will likely put the focus on running back Eddie Wide. In order for the Utes to have success, they must establish their rushing attack. Wide has rushed for 809 yards and 8 touchdowns. Wynn does have a threat at receiver in David Reed who has 819 yards receiving and 4 touchdowns.

The Utes defense must find a way to force TCU to resort to their passing game. The Horned Frogs are getting 242 yards a game rushing. Forcing turnovers will be key as well. The Utes have done a great job with this all year (12 interceptions), but TCU has done a good job of not turning the ball over.

TCU's explosive offense is averaging 458 yards and 37 points per game. The speed they possess in their rushing attack has been punishing. They have four backs with over 300 yards and are led by Joseph Turner. He has 560 yards and 9 touchdowns. Quarterback Andy Dalton will need to step up if their ground game gets stuffed by Utah. He has passed for 1,881 yards and 16 touchdowns. He has been able to spread the ball around to his group of receivers and has four with over 250 yards. The Horned Frogs bring in the No. 8 team in the nation in total offense and will need a great performance against a strong Utah defense.

The Horned Frogs' defense has been equally impressive and is allowing just 11 points per game. They have been very successful against the pass and if they put pressure on Utah's freshman quarterback and force them to run the ball, it could be a long game for the Utes. TCU is only giving up 89 yards rushing per game.

College Football Betting makes games that much more exciting to watch and all you TCU fans will be happy to see that TCU will be favored by 19 1/2 over Utah according to Betus sportsbook. The over/under is set at 46 1/2. TCU will look to claim the MWC title and a possible BCS bid, as well as continue to inch higher in the NCAA College Football Standings.
