Tim Tebow Leads 2009 Heisman Trophy Betting Odds

Sports Betting News - August 13th, 2009 - Written by Bruce

tim tebowAfter coming off a very exciting season last year, there is plenty of buzz surrounding the 2009 College Football Season. The 2009 Heisman Trophy Betting Odds have been released and a trio of quarterbacks lead the way. The favorite to win the award is University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow. Betting Lines have Tebow listed at +200 to win this year's Heisman Trophy Award. Tebow won the award just two season ago when he was only a sophomore. He will be leading a Florida Gators team who is coming into the season ranked as the number one team in the country. Ironically, Tebow led his team to a national title last year but came up short of winning the Heisman. If he is able to win the award again this year, Tim Tebow will join Archie Griffin as the only two time winners of the prestigious award.

Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford will be looking to win the Heisman Trophy Award for the second straight year in 2009. He was a redshirt sophomore last year, making him only the second sophomore to ever win the Heisman. The 2009 Heisman Trophy Betting Lines have Sam Bradford tied as the second favorite to win the award listing him at +275. Bradford will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Archie Griffin by winning the Heisman Trophy in back to back seasons. Many experts believe that Bradford will be the first overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. Over the course of this two years as Oklahoma's starting quarterback, Bradford has set multiple NCAA records. In his freshman season, Bradford threw for a remarkable 26 touchdowns which is the most ever thrown by a freshman. In his Heisman Trophy winning season last year, Bradford led a Sooners offense to a NCAA record 702 points. This will likely be Sam Bradford's last year playing college football, so it should be interesting to see if he can repeat as the Heisman Trophy winner.

Colt McCoy barely missed out on winning last year's Heisman Trophy when he finished just behind Sam Bradford in second place. The 2009 Heisman Trophy Betting Lines have McCoy tied as the second favorite to win the award listing him at +275. McCoy is coming off of a very impressive 2008 season which saw him complete an incredible 77.6% of his passes, which set an NCAA record. On top of that, McCoy also led his Texas Longhorns team in rushing with 576 yards. Last year the Longhorns came up just short of making the BCS title game, and McCoy just missed out on winning the Heisman. Coming into his senior season this year, McCoy is hoping to make up for last year's disappointments by leading him team to a championship while being recognized as College Football's top player. Last year saw Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, and Tim Tebow finish as the top three in the Heisman Trophy voting. Not surprisingly, they are the top three favorites to win the award again this year.
