Roger Federer Is the Early Favorite to Win The U.S. Open

The U.S. Open tennis tournament, the last major tennis tournament of the year is only weeks away, and Roger Federer is the heavy favorite to win the Men's division. The U.S. Open starts on August 31, and the finals will be held on Sunday September 13, 2009. Qualifying for the U.S. open will start on Tuesday August 25, and for certain players, like Andy Roddick, qualifying will be an important aspect of winning the tournament.

Like Every year, the U.S. Open tennis tournament will be held at the New York City tennis complex, and ESPN and the Tennis channel will broadcast match's from Arthur Ashe Stadium, Louis Armstrong Stadium, Grandstand court 13, and 11. ESPN will also release a live draws show on Thursday, August 27 at 12 p.m. eastern time, and Men's and women's seeds will be based on the rankings of each player on August 21.

Andy Roddick is the lone American hopeful to win the 2009 U.S. Open, and his first round loss in the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters, in Cincinnati, did not fare will for the young tennis star. Andy Roddick is a 12:1 favorite to win the tournament, but he will have the home crowd on his side. A-Rod became a world wide fan favorite, after his Wimbledon loss to Roger Federer just a few months ago. The British tennis super star Andy Murray, is also given good odds to win the tournament, Bodog has Murray as a 10:3 favorite to take home the title. This years U.S. Open is filled with drama, Andy Roddick is searching for his first Major title this year, Roger Federer and his wife just gave birth to twins, and Rafael Nadal is still recovering from knee surgery. The first day of coverage begins on August 31, so start preparing for the 2009 U.S. Open now.
