Poker After Dark Returns For Four More Weeks

Poker News - September 8th, 2009 - Written by Glen

poker after darkNBC's Poker After Dark is scheduled to air for another four weeks. This time around, seven of the biggest names in the industry will meet and play a high stakes cash game for 12 episodes. Amongst the line up will include November Nine's Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, Tom "durrrr" Dwan, Eli Elezra, Patrik Antonius, and Bluff columnist Ilari Sahamies.

As with Poker After Dark's standard cash structure, the buy in will be a minimum of $100,000, and the blinds start at $200 for the small, $400 for a large, all the while carrying a $100 dollar ante. Blinds will ultimately raise through out the game, with the option for the straddle. After week one, players will re-draw seating assignments, adding a different view on how the professionals will play from different seats.

On day one, the players discussed the possibility of a proposition surround deuces and sevens, adding to the excitement of the game. Several players bought in with over $200,000, giving plenty of opportunities for the money to fluctuate. The deuce seven proposition came up later into the evening, but an aggressive Phil Ivey turned down the idea.

Before the end of the first night, Sahamies ended up busting his first $100,000, losing an all in push on a possible diamond flush draw. Dwan, who also had the diamond flush draw, but with a higher kicker, called Sahamies and took his stack. The end of the day saw Dwan with the biggest stack, who had accumulated an additional $150,000 dollars by the end of the night. The last hand of the night went to Phil Ivey, and was his first winning pot for the evening.

Day two resumes Tuesday, at 2:05 PM EST on NBC.
