World Series of Poker Circuit Events Break Records

wsopThe World Series of Poker is perhaps the most popular series of tournaments in the world, attracting thousands of players from every corner of the globe to the tables. For varying stakes and rewards, players meet every year in Vegas to take down the world championship, the prizes, and the bracelets. A lesser known facet of the WSOP is their circuit games, a preliminary series of tournaments culminating in the Main Series in Vegas.

Casinos around the world host circuit events, which feature many of the biggest names in the industry, as well as the amateurs that comprise most of the tables. This year's circuits have, similar to the WSOP, shown a major increase in popularity, breaking previous records of how many players have attended circuit events. Almost 100 more players came out to break the record, previously posted at 1,345, coming to a total of 1,412 players in a $345 dollar NLHE event. The game was held at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana, where as the previous record was set in the Tunica Grand Resort in Mississippi.

Oddly enough, a European tournament, the Boylepoker International Poker Open in Ireland busted the record for the largest poker tournament outside of the United States. 1,440 players took part, blowing the previous record of of 1,347 out of the water.

Poker continues to grow in popularity, bringing more players from more countries to the tables on a daily basis. USA Online Poker Rooms further add to the mix, hosting massive tournaments and multiple cash games around the clock. As an added perk, many of these online poker rooms will send winners to the live tournaments that are growing more lucrative, challenging, and entertaining every day.
