Another Poker Game Robbed This Time In Pennsylvania

Poker News - October 22nd, 2009 - Written by Glen

poker cardsYet another robbery against poker has occurred, once again slandering the good name of a legitimate game. Last week a robbery took place in Oklahoma, heisting over $10,000 dollars from a poker tournament. The most recent robbery took place in the Heidelberg Volunteer Fire Department in Heidelberg, Pennsylvania.

Over $1,000 dollars was grabbed in the heist, and police currently suspect that it was an inside job. Almost two dozen people were participating in a Texas Hold 'em Tournament, and a player had busted out at roughly 2:40 in the morning. As he was leaving through a previously locked door, two men armed with guns charged in the door through which the loser was leaving.

A third man had sneaked in through a side door, this one armed with a baton. The gun toting men held the tournament manager at gun point, all the while leaving the man with the baton to club the tournament organizer, Sara Lazarro, in the head.

The alleged inside man had "appeared nervous" to the other players all night. Whether or not this is because he was aiding in the heist or simply and emotional poker player is still up for debate. The nervous gentleman had also, according to the other players, spent a lot of time on his cellular phone - another seemingly innocuous tendency that is prompting police to search for the as of now unnamed man.

The allegedly inside man has been contact, and is to be interviewed by police.

Situations like these, are just one more reason why USA Online Poker Rooms are a lot safer than holding your own poker tournament.
