June 17, 2009 - Written By Bonnie

Event 30 of the 2009 WSOP, the Pot Limit Omaha, brought out over 435 players and among those players were some of the biggest names in poker. The final hand would be taken by none other than JC Tran who in winning this event, will collect his second career bracelet and his third cash winning of the 2009 WSOP. This three day event proved to be a challenging on and Tran had to earn his way to the top.

Nine of the best players of the game made up the final table in this tournament. As soon as the final table swung into action, it stayed at a steady pace throughout the entire day. Johnny Juanda and Theo Jorgensen made it only 90 minutes in to the game before making their exit. Not far behind them was poker player Chad Layne who watched the intensity increase as they moved to six handed play. Tran was off to a good start and was pretty much controlling the pace of the game throughout the day. Through the middle stages of the game, Tran made a move against Jean-Paul Phillippe that caused him to relinquish half of his stack of chips. No cause for concern though, as in no time, Tran's progressive play brought him right back up to speed and earning him a spot at the heads up match.

After keeping a steady pace the last part of the final stages, Tran entered the heads up match against Jeff Kimbler with a 2-1 chip lead. In the long run, it is Tran is left as the last man standing. His efforts earned him the title, a cash prize of $235,685 and a 2009 WSOP gold bracelet.
