Jarrod Ankenman Wins Event 42 of 2009 WSOP

Gambling News - June 24, 2009 - Written By Bonnie

The 2009 WSOP Mixed Event, event 42, brought out over 411 of the greatest poker players around. Being that this tournament contains several different events, only the most skilled poker players make it through even the first day. Skill levels are high and determination to make it to the final table is on the mind of each and every player that enters the tournament. For some players, there may be events that they excel in and others that barely hold their own, but its all in who they are up against and what type of poker skills they are able to display.

Players came and went rather quickly right up until the final match up. Chris Klodenicki was among the last of the players but left the tournament just shy of the final match up which was left to Jerrod Ankenman and Sergey Altbregin. The final match up started with both players nearly even as far as chip count goes but once the first round of Omaha/8 was under way, Ankenman wasted no time pulling ahead in chips and leaving Altbergin in the dust. Shortly after that during Stud games, it became clear to not only spectators, but to Altbregin as well, that Ankenman had an advantage over him when it came to limit games. This display of domination continued until the very end of the final match up with Ankenman left as the last man standing.

Ankenman could not be more pleased to be the champion of this event, but the real victory comes from earning the 2009 WSOP gold bracelet. Ankenman will also walk away with a pay day of $241,637. Congratulations to Jerrod Ankenman on a job well done.
