Asomugha Sidelined for 2 Weeks

NFL News - September 1st, 2009 - Written by John

nnamdi asomugahRated as the overall best cornerback in the NFL, according to Scouts, inc., Nnamdi Asomugha probably couldn't have suffered a more inconvenient injury. The seven-year veteran of the Oakland Raiders has bone chips in his left wrist and expected to miss two weeks.

Asomugha has been one of the Raiders more vocal leaders, criticizing his teammates lack of drive and overall indifference about losses. He has been instrumental in correcting the ship and players, although still returning to the locker room with out wins, have seemed to care a bit more after games. The Modesto Bee reported after Oakland's 45-7 loss to the New Orleans Saints, players approached the post-game podium with an unusual amount of remorse.

"No one's accepting what happened," Tight End Zach Miller told reporters. "Guys are mad about what happened, and we just want to fix it so it doesn't happen again. Guys care more."

Asomugha recently signed a contract extension with the Oakland Raiders over the offseason worth about $45 million over three years, making him the richest defensive back in the history of the NFL.
