Westbrook, Others Ruled Out Today

NFL News - November 8th, 2009 - Written by John

fStill recovering from a concussion, Philadelphia Eagles' running back Brian Westbrook will be out today against the Dallas Cowboys. It will be the second week in a row he has missed.

Westbrook was knocked out two weeks ago when he was cracked on the head by Washinton Redskins' London Fletcher's knee. He admitted he had never suffered such an injury and was fearful of the repercussions. NFL players have grown increasingly worried about concussions with new reports of dementia being more prevelant to players who spend their lives in contact sports.

Head coach Andy Reid is apparently also worried about the effects of playing shortly after brain trauma and was the one who made the decision for his removal.

Rookie LeSean McCoy will get his second-straight start instead. McCoy ran for 86 yards and a touchdown last week against the New York Giants.

Other NFL injury reports:

- Atlana Falcons running back Michael Turner will have another great shot at topping the 100-yard mark today against the Washington Redskins. Against the 19th-worst rushing defense in the league, Turner will see a heavy load with Jerious Norwood and Jason Snelling inactive for the second-week in a row. Norwood is still hampered by a hip injury and Snelling has a sore hammy.

- Baltimore Ravens nose tackle Haloti Ngata will be out for the first time in his career. He will miss the divisional battle against the Cincinnati Bengals with an ankle injury.

- Indianapolis Colts running back Joseph Addai was the key to last week's win with a touchdown run and pass against the San Francisco 49ers. There's no reason to think he will be any less valuable today against the Texans. Back-up Donald Brown is out with a shoulder injury.

- Two star wideouts suffered different fates today as the Arizona Cardinals meet the Chicago Bears. Anquan Boldin is out with an ankle injury, while Devin Hester will start for the Bears.
