Bengals Source: Benson Likely To Sit; Larry Johnson To Get Carries

NFL News - November 20th, 2009 - Written by Jimmy

bengalsNew acquired Cincinnati Bengals RB Larry Johnson may already be in line to see a significant amount of carries in his first week with his new team.

Johnson is looking to fill in the hole that would be left by RB Cedric Benson, should Benson not be able to go on Sunday. At this point, it is assumed that Benson will miss Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders. Benson is ailed by a hip injury suffered during the win last Sunday at the Steelers.

So far this year, Cedric Benson has accounted for 859 yards on the ground along with 6 touchdowns as well as 66 yards receiving.

Larry Johnson has had a turbulent past, one that caused him to be cut from the Kansas City Chiefs. During his 2005 and 2006 campaigns with the Chiefs, Johnson rushed for over 3500 yards along with 37 touchdowns. So far this season, in 7 games, Johnson has only rushed for 322 yards and has no touchdowns. He is hoping to turn his season and career around with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Even though Benson most likely won't play, the Cincinnati Bengals are still 10 point favorites according to the Week 11 NFL Betting Odds. More lines and prop bets are available through Bodog Sportsbook. The over/under is set at 36 points with both sides paying equally.

Bettors will want to be sure to stay up with the Cincinnati Bengals Injury Report tomorrow, and leading up to the game on Sunday for an official ruling on Benson's status.
