Seattle 10 Point Favorites At Home Over Detroit

seattle seahwaksIn NFC action on Sunday in the NFL, the Detroit Lions will travel to play the Seattle Seahawks. The Lions are off to a dreadful start and have now dropped to 1-6 following their 17-10 loss to St Louis. Seattle (2-5) has lost two in a row after falling to Dallas 38-17 on Sunday. Seahawks head coach Jim Zora has had enough of their losing ways and will evaluate his team to see where changes need to be made.

"We're up against it a little bit." Mora said. "People will reveal themselves at these times. And I will be looking hard."

Offensively for Detroit, things have not gone well so far this year. They have only scored 12 touchdowns in 7 games and are averaging just 16 points per game. Rookie quarterback Matthew Stafford has only passed for 1,062 yards in an offense that is only averaging 189 yards through the air. He has thrown 3 touchdowns, but has 7 picks on the year. He has been pressured all season and the offensive line has given up 24 sacks so far this year. Their running attack is led by Kevin Smith. Smith has only rushed for 393 yards and 3 touchdowns. The lone bright spot at receiver has been Calvin Johnson. Johnson has 325 yards receiving, but has found the end zone just once this season.

The offensive woe's have carried over to the defensive side of the ball. The Lions are giving up 29 points per game which ranks 31st in the league. They also are giving up 252 yards through the air and have had trouble forcing turnovers as they only have 12 this season.

Seattle has had their share of problems on offense. They are only averaging 19 points per game. Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck has had his share of injuries and the offense has struggled when he has been out. For the year, he has passed for 978 yards and 9 touchdowns. The Seahawks have not been able to generate a ground game all year and are averaging just 88 yards per game which ranks 29th in the league. Julius Jones leads their running attack and has rushed for 341 yards and 1 touchdown.

The lone bright spot for the Seahawks' defense has been against the run. They are only giving up 101 yards per game which ranks 10th in the league.

Seattle will be favored by 10 against Detroit according to Betus sportsbook. The over/under is set at 43 and the total has gone over in 7 of Detroit's last 8 games on the road. Seattle is also 1-5 ATS in its last 6 games.
