Brett Favre has Second Thoughts About Playing Football In 2009

Sports Betting News - July 24th, 2009 - Written by Mike

After meeting with Dr. James Andrews and deciding to having arthroscopic surgery on his torn bicep tendon, Brett Favre has recently decided he might not be ready to play football for the Vikings this season as originally intended. The surgery, was a procedure Favre did not want to under go unless he knew for sure he would play quarterback for the Vikings this year. Well, now after already committing to the surgery Favre has had second thoughts about playing football at a highly competitive level for 16 straight weeks in the NFL.

ESPN reports that Favre has told those close to him that the pain in his throwing arm has ceased since the surgery and, that the arm feels better than it did all last year with the New York Jets. All signs that should lead to Favre holding a press conference and announcing his arrival to the Minnesota Vikings franchise. However it's Friday and still no press conference, Vikings mini camps start in less than a week and if Favre is to be ready to help the team win football games he will need to start practicing with the Vikings receivers.

The Vikings know that mini camp is around the corner and have devised new tactics to help expedite Brett Favre's decision to join the team. In recent weeks certain Vikings players have tried to sway Favre's choice just a bit faster by sending text messages and placing phone calls. These players include Adrian Peterson, Jared Allen and, Steve Hutchinson, who all want Favre to be the Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback. Some say Brett would have already announced his retirement if it were not for the phone calls form these Viking players.

If Brett Favre does decide to come back to the NFL and play football for the Minnesota Vikings, contract talks have already been discussed. A reported one year 10 million dollar contract was offered by the Vikings. The Vikings organization and the Vikings players all believe that a Super Bowl championship is in reach if Brett Favre comes back to play for the team. The entire NFL football fan base is waiting on this decision heavily, as in the last two years Brett Favre has either made you a fan or a foe with his retire and come out of retirement antics.
