Seattle Seahawks Odds to Win the Super Bowl in Miami

NFL News - August 20th, 2009 - Written by Ryan Smitih

The Seattle Seahawks fell apart in 2008, finishing the season with a record of 4-12, one year after they won 10 games in 2007. The Seahawks are hoping to return to success in the 2009 season, and potentially a birth to the playoffs. Credible online sports books such as BetUS, have released odds on all 32 NFL football teams chances to win the Super Bowl in 2010. The Bookies aren't to fond of the Seattle Seahawks this year, as they are a 50:1 favorite to win the Super Bowl in 2010. That's the third best odds out of all four teams in the NFC West division. The Seahawks might not have the best odds to win the Super Bowl, but they are definitely going to be a much better team in 2009.

The Seahwaks experienced a large number of injuries last season, and these injuries played a major factor in the Seahwaks ability to only win 4 games. The Seahawks organization proved they are willing to spend money in order to improve the teams talent level, when they signed free agent wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzedh. While with the Cincinnati Bengals football team, Houshmandzedh caught over 100 passes for two consecutive season. Seahawks starting quarterback Matt Hassellbeck, has never played with a top tier wide receiver, he will get the chance to relish the opportunity this season. Also returning to the team his Super Bowl MVP wide receiver Deon Branch, who was injured most of last year, but will start the season at 100% health.

In order to cash in on the 50:1 odds the Seahawks have to win the Super Bowl, they must first get to the playoffs. That all starts with the running game, and the Seahawks have the quick strike ability of running back Julius Jones. Jones led the team in rushing yards last season, but found it difficult to get into the end zone as the season progressed. The Seahawks will need a better effort from Jones this season, and that will likely happen when Houshmandzedh opens up the run attack, with the passing game.

If some how the Seahawks do find themselves in the playoffs at the end of the season, it will take a defensive strong hold to reach the Super Bowl. As we all know defense wins championships in the National Football league, and in order to win those 50:1 odds, the Seahawks need to play defense. Captain of the defense, linebacker Lofa Tatupu, will need to find away to inspire his troops on the playing field. The Seahawks defense is young, but that could be a good situation in just a few years. The Seahawks, like every football team in the NFL, realistically has a chance to win the Super Bowl this season, however it will take a tremendous effort from all 53 football players. The fun of betting on a team to win the Super Bowl before the season starts, is watching that bet come to fruition.
