Cincinnati Bengals 2010 Super Bowl Odds

NFL News - August 6th, 2009 - Written by Bruce

The Cincinnati Bengals are looking to rebound off of a very disappointing 2008 season that saw them finish a dismal 4-11-1. The 2010 Super Bowl Odds have the Bengals listed at 70:1 to win the Super Bowl this season, and if you are looking for the best sportsbook to check out those odds then stop by BoDog. Although only finishing with four wins last season, the Bengals do have some reasons to make them believe that they can turn it around this year. First off, the Bengals won their final three games last season. This gave the team some momentum heading into the off season. By finishing on a strong note, the Bengals have good reason to be optimistic about their chances coming into the 2009 NFL Season. More importantly though is the return of a healthy Carson Palmer this year. With Palmer out for much of last year, the Bengals were unable to get much production from any of their other quarterbacks. He is returning healthy this year and this has given Bengals fans plenty to be excited about.

This has been a rather hectic off season for the Bengals. They lost one of their biggest play makers when T.J. Houshmandzadeh left for the Seattle Seahawks. The Bengals brought in wide receiver Laveranues Coles to replace him. Coles is an explosive wide out with excellent speed, but he may be a bit of a drop off from what Houshmandzadeh provided them. The outspoken Chad Ochocinco will be looking to rebound off of a disappointing 2008 season. The return of former Pro Bowl QB Carson Palmer should bode well for Johnson as the two have had successful seasons together in the past. The running game was a big weakness last year for the Bengals. They brought in Cedric Benson this off season to help improve their rushing attack. If Benson can live up to the hype that he had coming out of college, this could be a great move for the Bengals. As long as Carson Palmer can remain healthy, Cincinnati should be good offensively this season.

Cincinnati has a young defense that seemed to improve as the season progressed last year. The team won their final three games, which was due in large part to excellent play by the defense. Defensive Coordinator Mike Zimmer did a good job of getting the defense to play hard last year. One weakness of the defense was their inability to sack the quarterback. They finished last season with only 17 sacks. The Bengals will need to improve in this area if they are going to find success this season. Strong Safety Roy Williams was signed this off season which should help out an already effective secondary. The Bengals seem to have the pieces in place for a good season defensively. At 70:1 it is safe to say that the Bengals are long shots to win it all this year. With a healthy Carson Palmer returning at quarterback, a few key off season acquisitions, and a young hard hitting defense, the Bengals should improve tremendously off of their four wins a season ago.
