Buccaneers Travel To Tennessee As 4 Point Underdogs

NFL News - August 15th, 2009 - Written by Jimmy

When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Tennessee Titans, hook it up on Saturday night, in each teams' preseason opener, there is sure to be a lot of big hits, and great defense played. Since this is the first exhibition, players from the Bucs and the Titans will be looking crack some heads, and take out training camp frustrations, on the other team. It will be a chance, for players on both teams, to make an impact, and prove their worth to their respective coaching staffs.

Both teams will be relying upon stellar defense, in the 2009 NFL Season, should they want to make an impact, in their division. That really isn't a surprise, considering that both teams are traditionally defensive powerhouses. The Titans led the AFC, in several defensive categories, in the 2008 season, and look to return to that form, starting tonight. For the Buccaneers, there are a ton of questions to be answered, as new head coach Raheem Morris is now at the helm, in place of John Gruden. The point is, both teams have much to prepare for, coming into the 2009 NFL regular season.

Slated to begin at 8:00pm EST, the Buccaneers and Titans will kick it off from LP Field, in Nashville, Tennessee. The game is slated to be televised live on the NFL Network, and should draw a good audience. Part of that audience will be NFL bettors, who have placed bets on this preseason NFL game. Looking at the betting lines for Tampa Bay vs. Tennessee, over at BetED, a leading sportsbook for online NFL betting, the Buccaneers will be getting 4 points, from the Titans. Should bettors take Tampa Bay at +4, they will be looking at a payout of -110, and the same goes for the payout on those taking the Titans at -4.

Other bets for the game include the total, or over/under bet, which is currently set at 34.5 points, at a payout of -110, for the over and the under. If bettors aren't feeling the points spread, or the total bet, they always have the option to bet their team straight up. When betting this way, it is generally referred to betting on the moneyline. The moneyline, for this game, has the Buccaneers at +170, for a straight up victory without any points spread, and the Titans at -210. Basically, if the Bucs win the game, a payout on the moneyline will pay 170%, of the original bet. The opposite side, a straight up victory for the Titans, will only pay a little bit better than 47%, of the original bet. In order to make significant money, on the Titans, bettors must go for Tennessee to cover the spread.

It really is tough to say exactly how this game will go. NFL Exhibitions, or preseason games, are tough to predict. Often, bettors are betting on how well the backups will play, because starters rarely play more than 2 series, in Week 1 of the NFL preseason. Draft picks and backups will get most of the playing time, so keep that in mind before placing any bets on this game.
