2010 Super Bowl Odds for the Miami Dolphins

NFL News - August 18th, 2009 - Written by Bruce

betus sportsbookThe Miami Dolphins had a remarkable turnaround last season when they finished the season at 11-5, only year removed from a brutal 1-15 season. The Dolphins shocked the football world by winning the AFC East Division last year. After tying for the biggest single season turnaround in NFL history, the 2009 Miami Dolphins are hoping to build off of their success last year and once again make the playoffs. Head Coach Tony Sparano is entering his second season with the team, and he is looking to once again use his hard nosed approach to lead the Dolphins to a big 2009 season. The 2009 Miami Dolphins are hoping to prove that their success from last year was no fluke. Even after last year's success, the 2010 Super Bowl Odds have the Miami Dolphins listed at 45:1 to win the Super Bowl this season. Quarterback Chad Pennington will lead the Dolphins once again on offense this year. He is coming off a great 2008 season, finishing the year with the second highest quarterback rating in the NFL at 97.4. The lack of a strong arm did not stop Pennington from putting up some impressive numbers. He threw for 3,653 yards with 19 touchdowns and only 7 interceptions. Miami will need Pennington to continue his impressive play if they are going to once again compete for a playoff spot this season. Looking over his shoulder is Chad Henne, who was Miami's second round pick from the 2008 NFL Draft. Henne has been impressive this off season, and is expected to take over as the team's starter following this season. Running backs Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams give the Dolphins two effective runners coming out of the backfield. Look for Miami to continue to mix in their "wildcat offense", which they had so much success with last season. The 2009 Miami Dolphins will need to make the most of their scoring opportunities, as they may struggle to score enough points to be a contender this season.

The Dolphins are led on defense by tenacious linebacker Joey Porter. Last year Porter finished the regular season with 17.5 sacks, which were the second most in the NFL. Porter brings a toughness and high level of energy with him on every snap. Miami will need Porter to once again be a leader for them on defense this season. With the return of Jason Taylor this year, Miami is hoping to see the production that Taylor used to provide in years past. One of the biggest weaknesses for Miami last year was their inability to stop the pass. They finished last season ranked 24th in the NFL against the pass. With the acquisition of a few players this off season, Miami should be much improved in the secondary this year. With 2010 Super Bowl Betting Lines listing the Dolphins at 45:1 to win it all this year, Miami will look to once again surprise the football world and make a run at the playoffs.
