New Casino in Pennsylvania Opens At Philadelphia Park

Casino News - December 21st, 2009 - Written by Glen

casinoThough table games have not yet passed into legality, a new Pennsylvania casino has sprung up. The first casino in the southeastern edge of Pennsylvania is now operational, much to the chagrin of Atlantic City casinos hoping to receive some revenue from players in that neck of the woods.

The Parx Casino, a massive $250 million dollar establishment, has opened its doors to allow players a chance to enjoy any of the 3,000 slot and video poker games available. Included in the establishment are also dining venues, a sports bar, and even a location for live entertainment. This full fledged gaming center is replacing the archaic temporary gaming center that had been attracting customers, even with its limited space.

Pennsylvania legislators will likely be voting on the expansion of gambling laws in the upcoming weeks. This expansion would not only increase the number of overall casino licenses, but also allow table games in the state's casinos. Though the terms of the legislation have yet to be hammered out and agreed upon, it is almost guaranteed that a vote will take place in the very near future. Threats of layoffs have been flying due to the hurtful level of revenue that the state has been generating without the addition of table games.

Though slots are available at these casinos, poker and other table games are still unavailable in Pennsylvania's casinos. In order to remedy this, players may turn to Pennsylvania online gambling in order to get their fix on poker, casino gaming, or even sports betting. Both Online Casinos and Pennsylvania's land casinos are a happy addition to many residents of the state, though New Jersey's Atlantic City may end up hurt due to a smaller player base.
