Patriots And Ravens Gear Up For AFC Championship Rematch With SB XLVII Berth On The Line

Patriots vs RavensIt’s deja vu all over again in the AFC Championship.

The New England Patriots and the Baltimore Ravens will meet for the second-straight season. The Patriots are hoping to replicate a victory, while the Ravens will be trying to orchestrate a much different outcome than the heartbreak in 2012.

In a classic playoff battle that went back and forth, the game came down to late in the fourth quarter with Baltimore driving and looking to go ahead. Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco threw a long pass to receiver Lee Evans, which for a brief moment looked like was hauled in for a touchdown. But the pass was broken up at the last second by Patriots defensive back Sterling Moore, a name no one really knew until that moment.

It was the biggest play of the game.

Baltimore failed to make another first down, and place kicker Billy Cundiff was brought in to try and tie the game. The snap was good, the hold was fine, but the kick immediately took off and sailed to the left.

The Patriots would go on to the Super Bowl, but would lose to the New York Giants.

You could say that redemption is on the minds of Baltimore, but they know that emotion alone will not be the recipe for a victory at Foxborough on Sunday night. Not when the New England offense is playing this well, albeit they will be without Rob Gronkowski due to injury.

Oddsmakers believe that the Patriots will get the victory in the game installing New England as 10-point home favorites on AFC Championship game betting lines. It’s a rather large line for a conference championship game, but obviously oddsmakers see something that they like in the Patriots.

New England and Baltimore do have a history of playing close games in the playoffs though. And it’s not as if the affairs have been one-sided either. Baltimore has gotten the best of New England just the same as the Patriots have bested the Ravens before.

And with Ray Lewis continuing the lead this team in his last campaign as an NFL player, Baltimore has certainly grabbed new life towards the end of the season and on into each of their playoff victories.

Those who want to bet on New England would be wagering on the Patriots winning by at least 11 points. A wager on the Ravens would dictate a nine-point loss or less.

If you are a bettor who likes getting some significant points, this could be your game to lay down on Baltimore, as you get the 10 points to play with. The Patriots are the overall favorites to win Super Bowl XLVII, with the Ravens on the bottom looking up heading into this weekend.
