Two Pennsylvania Casinos Receive Fines For Underage Gamblers

February 11th, 2011 – by Glen Farmer

Two casinos in Pennsylvania have recently been hit with fines for allowing underage gamblers into the gaming floor. Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh and the Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Houston, Washington County, PA, have been fined for allowing players under the age of 21 to gamble on their floor.

Seven incidents of underage gamblers occurred at the Rivers Casino. Since June, multiple underage gamblers gained access to the casino’s gaming floor, including a 15 year old male who played slot machines for approximately an hour on New Year’s Day, as well as an 18 year old female who was not only allowed to play the games, but she was also issued a player’s card that she used three times in February.

For the infractions, the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh received a $105,000 fine – the largest of any fine handed out by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

The Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Houston, Washington County, received a fine of $30,000 for their infractions. On two occasions, small children were found on the gaming floor. A 20 year old male was also cited for underage gambling in the casino.

Fines over underage gambling in the casinos has become somewhat common, with at least two distributions of fines levied against the casinos in Pennsylvania per annum.
